Jonagored Apples

Jonagored apple has its origins in Belgium, being a mutant from the Jonagold variety. It has a rounded shape and it’s characterized by its large size and high production rates. Its colour is streaked with red with yellow background and its pulp is white, flimsy, juicy and succulent. This fruit is a very nutritive and one of the best known food products, being cultivated especially in temperate climates. 100 grams of apple provides, on average, 58 calories. This apple contains reasonable amounts of fibre and vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E, minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium. Its water content and vitamin C makes it a good food for children, because in addition to feed, is an excellent hydrator. It is easy to digest and it is advisable to consume it with the natural skin to make better use of all vitamins.

Starking Apples

Starking apple is originally from the USA. It is a very interesting variety given its good preservation and characteristic average sizes. It has rounded shape and size varying between 6 and 10 cm in diameter. Its colour is generally dark red striated on a yellow background. The pulp colour of Starking apple is white cream and its consistency is crispy. This fruit is a very nutritive and one of the best known food products, being cultivated especially in temperate climates. 100 grams of apple provides, on average, 58 calories. Rocha Pears

Rocha pear is originally from Sintra, Portugal. This pear variety was incidentally obtained from seed in 1826, by the farmer Pedro António Rocha, which led to the designation of this fruit. The Rocha pear measures 5 to 8 cm in diameter. It has oval shape, thin and smooth skin, its colour is greenish to dark yellow when ripe, with brown spots, typical from this variety. The pulp is white, firm but juicy, richly flavoured and sweet. This variety is rich in proteins, carbohydrates and dietary fibre. The pear in general, contributes to the smooth formation of bones, teeth and blood, keeps the internal balance and strength of the nervous system. It is also good against obstipation and inflammations on intestines and bladder.

Royal Gala Apples

Royal Gala apple has its origins in New Zealand. It is a very interesting variety given its good preservation and characteristic average sizes. Apple is a fruit of the world's best known. It has rounded shape and size varying between 5 and 10 cm in diameter. Royal Gala colour is generally red, with a slight striatum. The pulp colour of Royal Gala apple is white and presents a crispy consistency. This fruit is a very nutritive and one of the best known food products, being cultivated especially in temperate climates. 100 grams of apple provides, on average, 58 calories. This apple contains reasonable amounts of fibre and vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E, minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium. Golden apple is cultivated since 1890 in the USA. It is the most popular variety grown all over the world given its great cultural plasticity and productivity, also characterized by medium to large sizes. It has rounded shape and size varying between 6 and 10 cm in diameter. At its ripening its colour is golden yellow. Golden apple pulp is white and its consistency is crispy and juicy. This fruit is a very nutritive and one of the best known food products, being cultivated especially in temperate climates. 100 grams of apple provides, on average, 58 calories. Masilfrutas SAG Ltd is an agricultural company in the western region of Portugal , which is engaged in production and marketing of fruit products , Royal Gala apple (among other varieties) and Rocha Pear. Back in 2004 , three brothers born and raised within the horticulture, face the demands of markets and rethought the family business , modernizing the farm from the land to the storage and conservation systems , investing in new technologies and in new markets.

There were several investments in cultivation since its foundation currently are about 72 acres of cultivation ,? Rocha Pear and ? Apples , mostly Royal Gala apple. Equally important are investments on capacity and quality of storage and packaging products . The storage capacity is 1,800 tons , 1,500 tons are controlled atmosphere cold storage . Our packing lines have a capacity of about 41 tons per week , depending on the characteristics of the packaging and specifications for customer / market.

Trading


The facillitys of Masilfrutas located in Fanadia, expanded in 2007 /2008, include a packing area, which is equipped with a gauge of fruit , and a chamber expedition. In 2013 and as the capacity was already sold out , 3 more controlled atmosphere cold storage were built, in order to ensure the best quality of our products . Masilfrutas currently has a storage capacity of 1,800 tons , of which 1,500 tons is controlled atmosphere . The packaging lines have a capacity of about 41 tons per week , depending on the package characteristics and specifications of the customer / market.

Also in early 2014 Masilfrutas will implement B.R.C. standards, that attest to the quality and food safety when packing and shipping of our products.

Our team , has training in good practice and food safety and hygiene , fulfilling all the requirements of the international standard HACCP.

The Standards guarantee the standardisation of quality, safety and operational criteria and ensure that manufactures fulfil their legal obligations and provide protection for the end consumer. BRC Global Standards are now often a fundamental requirement of leading retailers.

Production

Masilfrutas is a company located in the region of Fanadia – Caldas da Rainha dedicated to producing Rocha Pear and Royal Gala apples ( among other varieties ).

The microclimate that characterizes the entire West region of Portugal, provides exceptional conditions for fruit production, so the pears and apples from this region have great organoleptic qualities ( color, taste and aroma ) , appreciated and recognized worldwide.

All our production and packaging is based on standards of Integrated Production , GlobalGap , HACCP and BRC:

The scheme of Integrated Production:
The Integrated Production System is a protection against the enemies of crops , taking into account the particular conditions of the environment and population dynamics ( of the species in question ) . This system provide the meeting , in practice of the two concepts : the chemical control and biological control , in order to provide the best results in terms of production quality and environmental protection.

The adoption of integrated production has provided very significant benefits:
